HI
HI
I know I haven't updated this in a while...but I believe it is time to do so.
In August we played a great show at the Watchung Arts Center. There are some videos of this performance on youtube. Hit "Continued..." to see them.

We're back...
I know, I know. We haven't put anything up on this site in ages. But we've just added a new member and have started preparing to play shows again this summer, so I felt it was time, since we'll probably update the bio thing soon. We've had some new tracks for awhile that haven't been mentioned here; many of them can be heard at our myspace, or, at a new link I've added to the media section where we've posted the work we've done thus far on our second album, Dream Defined. Check it out when you can. Our new member, Chris, plays keyboards. We hope the new element will add some pretty cool sounds to our live show. Come back soon: there's bound to be new stuff added here much more frequently.

Obviatus hits the studio...again!
On the weekend of Jan 21, Obviatus will be going to the studio once again to record the songs Amber in Steel and Hole, to be released as "singles" following the sessions. Look forward to this new release!

Brownwater 12/22
Brownwater last night went pretty great; the PA could have been louder and I had to strain to be heard well, but otherwise we blew the crowd away! Videos and mp3s have been posted in the media section of the site. A thousand thanks to those who attended!

CD Distribution
Due to some last minute considerations, the information we were able to
include with the CD became quite minimal. Therefore we would like to
credit the following people for their contributions to the album. Christine Shieh - violin (tracks 4, 7, 8, 13)
Chris Teixeira - additional rhythm guitar (tracks 3, 6, 9)
James Perez - bass guitar (tracks 3, 6, 9, 12, 13)
Mike DiIorio - drums (tracks 3, 6, 9, 12, 13)
Chris Begeja - trumpet (track 13)
Valerie Louie - keyboard (track 9)

Mixing Session - Nov. 20
The band went to the studio again today to work on mixing the
album. Although most of the tracks were mixed and some mistakes
and vocals were dubbed over, a few were missed due to some noisy
neighbors. These will be mixed on Friday. Our album will be out shortly after then. You'll love it - we promise.

Recording Sessions November 12th & 13th
The band and I spent this weekend recording our album, and it
sounds.. incredible. =) Mixing's not 'till next Sunday, so you'll have
to wait a week for the full album. But.. I had CJ whip up a preliminary mix of Nice Day For A Walk. Check it out!

Practice 10/30
Again, we've been having spectators come to recent practices, and
today Becca wrote notes up on the songs we played. It seems like while
problems still plague Blur, it definitely sounds better, and it's a mix
problem; therefore Blur may be added to the list of ready songs. Dream
#10 can also be added, as we can now hear Russ with his new amp and it
sounds much better than it did before. Before he sounded like a
foghorn. =P Today we began work on Thorns and The Shade. The
latter is mostly ready, it just needs more work individually on nailing
the particular parts. Thorns is the one song we definitely have not
paid enough attention to. I know I haven't even learned the piano for
it yet. @_@ Thorns is definitely going to sound very different this
time around, though. Brace yourself for a change. We're recording eight songs, six of which are ready.

Practice 10/21
Band practice today felt pretty great. Here's the list of songs we're satisfied with our performance on: Nice Day For A Walk
Silenced
Missing You
Toy Soldier
Red Handed When we have Russell's new bass amp and the new PA it
should help Dream #10 and Blur out, two we aren't positive about our
sound just yet. At next practice we plan to look at The Shade, Thorns
and the Intro/Intermission/Outro trio, which when prepared, will bring
us to the point where we can go into the studio most likely sometime in
November. We've been inviting a few spectators to practices
recently to give us reviews..if you're interested in attending a
practice, give me an email.

Recording Session 10/15
Obviatus went into the studio today, the goal being to redo the
vocals on the four of the six EP tracks that we intend to carry over
directly to the new album. I've added a number of harmonies to Thick
Black Line and This Silver Claw, and the Fool on the Hill no longer has
that horrid beginning note - thank god! I also worked on Missing You,
but I need to more finely tune what it is I want to hear from the
backup vocals in that song. In any case, we're now focused on glossing
the new material in practice so we can get them done in record time in
the studio. We'll post again when we've definitively booked recording
dates for the album!

New site online!
Wow! We're delighted to be back on the Internet after disappearing for a lonng time. Obviatus.com is no more, and from its ashes arises Obviatus.net with an almost entirely new lineup and a promise of an album by the end of this year. Hang in there!
